Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for February 8

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for February 8 Morning  “Pride goeth before destruction.”  Exodus 7:1-5 , Exodus 7:10-22  Exodus 7:1-5  God’s judgments hardened Pharaoh’s heart. They are sure to harden if they do not soften. The monarch was of such a nature that terrors and plagues only made his spirit more unbending.  Exodus 7:10  They had delivered their message, they here show their credentials.  Exodus 7:11-13  He concluded that Moses was only a magician, like those in his own pay, and he therefore again defied the power of Jehovah.  Exodus 7:14-18  They had before defiled the river with the blood of innocents, and now it appears to them in blood-red colours; as if it published aloud their murderous deeds.  Exodus 7:19-21  Horrible! A crowd of horrors! Their drink becomes blood; the river which they accounted sacred pours forth an intolerable stench; the delicious water grows worse than putrid; a...

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for February 8

Charles Spurgeon's "Faith's Checkbook" Devotional for February 8 “Joyful Security ”  - Isaiah 41:10 Fear of falling is wholesome. To be venturesome is no sign of wisdom. Times come to us when we feel that we must go down unless we have a very special support. Here we have it. God’s right hand is a grand thing to lean upon. Mind, it is not only His hand, though it keepeth heaven and earth in their places, but His right hand: His power united with skill, His power where it is most dexterous. Nay, this is not all; it is written, "I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." That hand which He uses to maintain His holiness and to execute His royal sentences -- this shall be stretched out to hold up His trusting ones. Fearful is our danger, but joyful is our security. The man whom God upholds, devils cannot throw down.  Weak may be our feet, but almighty is God’s right hand. Rough may be the road, but Omnipotence is our upholding. We may boldly g...

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for February 8

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for February 8 Tozer in the Morning Just Do It The Lord said to become children. If we all became children, how beautiful that would be. You could walk up to a man and shake his hand without wondering, "Do I know enough judo to handle him?" He would not hurt you. Christians here are not going to hurt anybody, so just be perfectly candid. This is one passage you can practice no matter who you are or where you are. It touches you right now. "I tell you, whoever acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man will also acknowledge him before the angels of God." (Luke 12:8). This passage tells us we are to testify and witness boldly about our Lord Jesus. If some of you would begin to quietly witness where you work, you would find a change coming over you. "Whoever has my commands and obeys them. . . [I will] show myself to him" (John 1 4:21). You will get out of the rut when the Lord begins to manifest Himself to you....

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for February 8

Days of Heaven on Earth Devotional for February 8 “We are not sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves” (2 Corinthians 3:5) Insufficient, “All sufficient.” These two words form the complement of each other and together give the key to an efficient Christian life. The discovery and full conviction of our utter helplessness is the constant condition of spiritual supply. The aim of the Old Testament, therefore, is ever to show man’s failure; that of the New, to reveal Christ’s sufficiency. He has all things for us, but we cannot receive them till we know that we have nothing. The very essence, therefore, of Christian perfection is the constant renunciation of our own perfection, and the continual acceptance of Christ’s righteousness. And as we receive deeper views of our nothingness and evil, it is but a call to claim more of His rich grace. But it is possible fully to know our insufficiency and yet not take firmly hold of His “all things.” This, too, must be done wi...

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 8th February 2026

Wayside Chapel Daily Devotional 8th February 2026 February 8 Exodus 15:25b-26 (NIV)There the LORD made a decree and a law for them, and there he tested them. 26He said, "If you listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you." The people were thirsty and had come to a place of bitter water. It would have taken an entire lake to give that many people and their herds a drink. They asked if God was able to provide their needs. The Psalmist said they were testing God (Psalm 78:19). Both in the verse for today and in the next chapter, when they demand food, God turned it around and said the test is not if He were able to provide, but it is if they are able to obey. That is still the test. God provides food for every living thing in the world daily. Most starvation is due to wars...
